JUNIOR MUSIC – YEARS 2, 3<\/b><\/p>\n
At MHP, hands-on practical music making is how we learn the fundamentals of music: beat, meter, rhythm, pitch, tempo, dynamics, and timbre. Each music lessons consists of the following:<\/p>\n
Singing<\/i><\/b> \u2013 based on the Kodaly method using solfege and time names to develop inner hearing and aural skills.<\/p>\n
Instruments <\/i><\/b>– Children learn to play a range of class instruments including non-pitched and pitched percussions and keyboards.<\/p>\n
Dance and movement<\/i><\/b> – In years 2 and 3, students\u2019 musical responses through movement is particularly emphasised, especially in developing A sense of beat and meter.<\/p>\n
Music theory and knowledge<\/i><\/b> \u2013 Rhythm and pitch notation, musical expressions, history, composers, genre and style are covered in the repertoire we play on our instruments and the songs we sing.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div> SENIOR MUSIC – YEARS 4-6<\/b><\/p>\n In the senior music class, students learn a wide range of musical instruments as well as more in-depth music theory and knowledge.<\/p>\n Singing<\/i><\/b> \u2013 Continuation of the Kodaly method of singing; expanding the range of pitches and rhythms used.<\/p>\n Instruments<\/i><\/b> \u2013 In addition to percussion instruments, students learn to play bucket drums, recorder and ukulele at the senior year levels.<\/p>\n Composition and improvisation<\/i><\/b> \u2013 Students participate in group compositions and improvisation based on a variety of musical styles and techniques.<\/p>\n Music theory and knowledge<\/i><\/b> \u2013 Extended learning of Rhythm and pitch notation, musical expressions, history, composers, genre and style.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div> Term 1 and 2: Years 2,3<\/b><\/p>\n This term, the year 2 and 3 have been introduced to singing and playing in Solfege and music in the meter of 2. We have learnt to sing, play and dance many songs in the meter of 2.<\/p>\n<\/div>
